Frequently Asked Questions

So you have a few questions. Below are the answers to the most commonly asked questions. If you do not see the answer to your question below just shoot us an email at info@queercitysports.com.

Who should play?

If you want to have fun, meet other awesome humans and get active, join us!  Everyone is welcome regardless of your sexuality, gender, age, or athletic ability.  We believe in inclusivity not exclusivity.

How do I get in on the good times?

Simply, sign up for a league, tournament or charity even!  For most leagues and tournaments when you register, you have three choices: Captain, Team Player, or Small Group/Free Agent.  Some of our leagues and tournaments will only have a free agent option. This is to promote the social side of QCS and get you mingling with new teammates!

  • Team Captain: You want to build your own team of players and lead them to victory!
  • Team Players: You know what team you are supposed to be on and want to directly register for that team.
  • Small Group / Free Agent: You want to play, but don't currently have a team? Free Agent means you are a solo player and we will randomly assign you to a team. Joining our league as a free agent is the best way to make friends in Baltimore!  Small Group means you have a few friends that want to play together but not quite enough for a full team. We will merge your group with other small groups or free agents to form a team.

Where do I register?

Every city has its own registration page. Click Play on the website then select your city to view upcoming leagues.  Be sure to like your city's Queer City Sports Facebook page so you don't miss out on any league or tournament announcements.

How much does it cost?

Every league and tournament has a different price point.  We strive to keep costs as low as possible while providing a high quality fun filled experience for our players.  We are firm believers that play is pivotal to our physical and emotional wellbeing and everyone regardless of ability to pay should be able to play. If you find the cost prohibitive please do not hesitate to message us.

What is the refund policy?

Queer City Sports will provide a full refund any time up until two weeks prior to the final season registration date.

Example: If registration ends on June 1st, the last day to receive a full refund is May 18th.

If a request for refund is received within 2 weeks of the season registration ending, a player may receive a credit towards future Queer City Sports activities.

Example: If registration ends on June 1st, any requests received between May 19th  and June 1st will receive a Queer City Sports site credit.

After the end of registration, Queer City Sports will not be able to offer any refunds or credits.

Example: If registration ends on June 1st, any requests received on June 1st or later will not be eligible for a refund or a credit.

Can I register after the league started?

Unfortunately no, make sure you know when registration closes so that you and your friends are all signed up before the deadline! If you did miss registration there may be a chance to sub in for a game.  Be sure to like your City QCS Facebook page, that is where teams post if they need a guest player.

I am registered! What happens now?

Awesome, welcome to the fun!

  1. After registration closes we get to work creating teams.  Free agents and small groups will be merged to form full teams.
  2. We will send out a welcome email with the league or tournament details 7-10 days prior to kickoff.
  3. Get that team chat going and get pumped for opening day! Once you receive the welcome email teams are set.  You can log into your dashboard to message your team. Decide on a team name, nominate a captain and co-captain and most important make sure that everyone is in for the post game hang!
  4. Check your schedule. You can access the schedule and standings from the league page.
  5. Review the rules.
  6. Bringing the right attitude guarantees a great time for everyone!  You can wow us with your athletic prowess but always remember that we are here to have fun, build community, and make friends.  Please play within your ability and don't take games too seriously.

What do I wear?

You will receive a QCS shirt with most leagues and tournaments.  We are all about celebrating uniqueness. Feel free to customize your shirt, as long as you don't obscure the logos, anything is game!

I am considering volunteering to be a captain or co-captain, what are the responsibilities?

Captain responsibilities include:

  • Making sure the team has enough players every week
  • Knowing the rules
  • Helping rookie players learn the sport
  • Turning in scorecards and check the website to make sure they were posted correctly
  • Passing along any league updates
  • Creating a fun, positive environment for all our players
  • Organizing post game hangs

I want to get more involved!

Fantastic, there are plenty of ways to get more involved!
